MCHC June Open Arena Event Update: Let’s try it again next year for the weekend of May 30-June 1.
Sally’s Ride Weekend (September 20-22)—Set-up Friday evening beginning at 6PM. Gates open at 10AM on Saturday. Ride goes from 1-4 PM. Raffle drawing starts at 5PM or after the riders return.
- On-line Registration Form Again This Year: Liability Waiver Form is included with stall, camping, and Coggins. Cindy volunteered to export the rider data to Excel for Juliette.
- Trail Ride Details & Marking the Trail: Some of the area that we usually ride now has gates and no trespassing signs. Cheri will work with Wendy Maas to figure out the new location of the 5 and 10 mile trails and get it marked before the weekend.
- Frenchtastik Food Truck (Sat. 1-6PM): It was hard to secure a food truck this year, but Juliette was able to find this one. They have checked out the grounds and will be plugging in near the horse barn.
- Evening Entertainment Update: Paavo is going to sing for an hour right after the raffle drawings. Andi and Cindy are covering his cost ($100). There will also be a s’mores bar for folks to enjoy at the bonfire.
- Online Silent Auction Update: Juliette is able to do the online auction again this year but needs to have photos and prices sent to her. There will be a few items reserved for people to bid on Saturday. The silent auction opens on Saturday, 9/14 at 5PM and closes on Friday, 9/20 at 9PM.
- Basket Raffle Update: Andi will send Cathy the form that must be filled out for donations and Cathy will post it on our website and send it to Kathy S. Stephanie made a motion for MCHC to purchase matching camping chairs for the silent auction and a MCHC membership. Cathy seconded. Motion passed.
- Stalls & Camping Reservations Update: Cindy has 6 stalls reserved so far. Some people have paid for stalls on their preregistration so there may be more. Cost $10 per stall, free bedding available (a lot left from the Fair) and clean after. Camping is $25 for one night, $40 for 2 nights.
- Porta-potty & hand-washing station order: Not ordered yet. Save the money and skip it this year.
- Volunteer Needs: NMU Pre-Vet might be able to do the Coggins Check at the gate or possibly Mary Johnson.
- Photographer: Jen Weide can do pictures for the beginning of the event.
- 2025 Events: Winter Social/Sleighride (Saturday, February 1, 2025), Tack Sale (March 29, 2025), June Open Arena & Camping May 30-31, Sally’s Ride (September 20, 2025). There won’t be a meeting in November. Next meeting is on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Crossroads Restaurant.
- Nancy Redfern & Jack Filkins Memorial Gifts: The board voted to donate $300 to Nancy church youth group and purchase a $250 Shiloh’s Barn horseshoe in her memory. They also approved a memorial card and gift of $100 to be sent to Mary Johnson, Jack’s sister and longtime member/volunteer of MCHC.
